The Florida A&M University National Alumni Association (FAMU NAA) Northeast Region (NER)
proudly offers an annual scholarship to a deserving student residing within the nine states that
make up the region. This scholarship honors the legacies of Walter C. “Suitcase” Wynn, a 1986
inductee into the FAMU Athletics Hall of Fame, and Samuel Thompson, former president of the

New York Chapter of the FAMU Alumni Association.
The NER encompasses alumni chapters in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Long Island,
New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, DC.

Scholarship Amount: The Walter C. Wynn/Samuel Thompson scholarship is $2,000.00 for one
academic year. The scholarship money will be deposited directly into the student’s account at
Florida A&M University.

Eligibility:
•Graduating high school senior attending FAMU
•Residency within the Northeast Region, attended a high school in the Northeast Region
• Minimum 3.0 (4.0 scale) grade point average
•Completed application package
