Welcome to the Washington, D.C. Chapter of the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University National Alumni Association (FAMUNAA)! We are proud to call the nation’s capital our home and continue the mission of Florida A&M University Alumni Association in and around the metro area. About

Primary membership in the Washington, D.C. Chapter of the FAMU National Alumni Association, Inc. (FAMU NAA) spans three states in Greater Metropolitan Washington, DC. In order of majority representation, chapter members reside in Maryland, Washington, District of Columbia and parts of Northern Virginia.

Mission

The Florida A&M University National Alumni Association (FAMU NAA), a non-profit organization, incorporated under the laws of the State of Florida, was established to serve its alumni and the University, to actively promote the interest of Florida A&M University as an institution of higher learning, research and public service, to focus on the educational needs of all Americans to support cultural diversity and equal access to a quality education at Florida A&M University. The NAA works to stimulate interest in the University among students, former students, graduates, family and friends of FAMU, corporate partners, and others while providing financial, moral and political support.

FAQ

In order to be a regular member of the Florida A&M University National Alumni Association, you must be a graduate or have at least completed one semester in good standing. If a person did not attend the university, but is interested in supporting the university, they may become an associate member. The fiscal/membership year for the association is July 1 to June 30. This is also the time frame for dues payment.

 The most meaningful way to contribute to the chapter is by joining a committee. Committee work is the heartbeat of the chapter. Committees meet once a month for a one to two hours. We have 12 standing committees and 2 ad-hoc committees.

The Florida A&M University National Alumni Association’s DC Chapter conducts General Body meetings on the first Saturday of each month, excluding holidays. In the event of a holiday, the meeting is moved to the following Saturday. Meetings begin at 11am and do not have a set duration; however, the meeting duration is typically around 2 – 2.5 hours on average.
